As a follow up to the initial training SAPST conducted for Lesotho based civil society organisation, Letsema Child Rights Network in November 2017, SAPST was invited to conduct training on Budget analysis and tracking.
The training drew member organisations of the Letsema network, an umbrella body of CSOs that advocate and provide services aimed at enhancing children’s rights.
Given that Letsema Network is now a fully registered network organisation the training was meant to equip the network to carry out collective advocacy on child friendly budgeting particularly through engaging Parliament.
During the workshop the Letsema network expressed an appreciation for the value that SAPST has brought through building their capacity to analyse national budgets and engage Parliament meaningfully.
One of the resolutions made at the meeting was to develop an MOU between SAPST and Letsema.
Letsema has incorporated Parliamentary Engagement on Child Rights in its strategic plan and envisages that a relationship with SAPST through an MOU will enrich and empower Letsema in its work towards advocacy for child rights.
