Now that the election period is over and the Ninth Parliament of Zimbabwe is coming in, it is important that civil society organisations and the public understands how Parliament functions.
It is SAPST’s mandate to educate and sensitize civil society organizations and the general public on legislative, oversight and representative developments and how to influence outcomes at Parliament.
To this end, SAPST is in Mutare training CSO’s on the role of Parliament and Parliamentary engagement.
CSO’s in attendance include ZESN, ZIMTA, NANGO, ZCTU, ZINASU, Mhakwe Trust, CCZ, Padare, Saps, AEDPT, MYFT, Conversations with our Fathers and Churches. Government representatives from the Home Affairs Ministry are also in attendance.
The one-day workshop is also expected to enlighten CSO’s on the budget process, petition process and the significance of public hearings in the policy making process.
Similar trainings will be replicated across the country.
